Former Deputy Prime Minister Among Several New Appointments Announced By St.Kitts-Nevis Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris
Former Deputy Prime Minister in the Dr. Kennedy Simmonds Led Administration of 1980-95 Micheal Oliver Powell has been given a special appointment by St.Kitts-Nevis Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris.
During a Press Conference on Wednesday afternoon Dr. Harris announced that Powell was appointed Ambassador at Large in the Prime Minister’s Ministry .
Dr Harris declared that Powell is expected to bring to bear his vast experience as a former Deputy Prime Minister on development issues.
Other announcements made included the appointment of career diplomat Shirley Skerrit as the High Commissioner to Canada based in Ottawa. Skerrit was formerly attached to the OECS Mission and Embassies in Brussels. In addition Ms Verna Morris, career diplomat was announced as Charge d’ Affaires to Cuba . Ms Morris has served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 10 years. She is a graduate of universities in Cuba and Mexico.
Well known former Educator Sydney Osbourne was named Ambassador to Caricom .
Other announced appointments included Ms Lorna Hunkins as Special Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Other appointments include:
- Ms Kaye Bass, Director in Foreign Affairs, is now Acting Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- Mr Clecton Phillip as Press Secretary, in the Office of the Prime Minister.
- Osmond Petty to serve as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security
