Basseterre, St. Kitts (12 November 2022) Congratulations to St. Kitts as it welcomes inaugural cruise call of the revolutionary vessel “Voyager of the Seas.” The vessel boasts of its guest capacity of 3,602 passengers and its 15 decks of exhilaration. The ship is ideal for adventure lovers as it provides twin-racer waterslides, a rock-climbing wall, a full-size basketball court, an ice-skating rink, and a Battle for Planet Z laser tag. The cruise ship was launched in 1998 and was formally named by Olympic figure skater Katarina Witt.

Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Marsha Henderson is delighted to welcome yet another inaugural cruise call to the destination. “Inaugural cruise calls continue to create excitement for our cruise industry workers. Our tourism industry is a key contributor to our destination’s economy, and we accept new cruise partnerships with open arms. I welcome Voyager of The Seas to our beautiful island with great pleasure. This inaugural cruise call comes after meeting the CEO of parent company Royal Caribbean International, Mr. Michael Bayley, as we discussed itineraries across the group’s brand for our destination,” said Minister Henderson.
Passengers will explore the wonders of St. Kitts through its vibrant culture, rich history, warm hospitality, exquisite cuisine, and adventurous excursion tours. Guests can experience a local rum tour at Old Road Rum based at Wingfield’s Estate, sip signature cocktails on our warm sunny beaches, or zipline through our lush rainforests. The destination continues to provide soul-stirring and timeless experiences for guests, encouraging visitors to venture deeper into an authentic Kittitian experience.

“Proud is an understatement,” shared Chief Executive Officer at the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Mr. Ellison “Tommy” Thompson. “St. Kitts continues to achieve remarkable accomplishments. Securing yet another maiden cruise call is outstanding and indicates that the Authority’s marketing and promotional efforts continue to be impactful. We are looking towards solid growth this cruise season and will continue to put measures in place to maintain the momentum we are currently seeing.”

The destination is expected to see numerous inaugural cruise calls as it moves into the peak of the cruise season. It promises to be fruitful for local stakeholders that depend heavily on the cruise sector.
