“It is time for us to accept that we are one people, with a shared history, a challenging future and a destiny beckoning us always to work together in unity for our common and collective good,” stated Prime Minister of St.Kitts-Nevis Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris during his presentation at the Official Opening of the “Caricom overcoming challenges: Pathway to development” Regional Forum currently being held in Antigua and Barbuda.

He encouraged Caricom states to pursue similar agenda’s for development .
The St.Kitts-Nevis Prime Minister declared “My Government is concerned about the various challenges that we face, and the threats these pose to our ability to advance the well-being of our citizens. In seeking to address these challenges, my Government has proposed an aggressive prosperity agenda that is people-centric, transformative and recognises the critical importance of the private sector, foreign direct investment, ICT, innovation, entrepreneurship, economic and social stability, good governance, environmental sustainability and regional integration for enhancing resilience and promoting sustainable growth and development,
It is clear from the above that my Government’s agenda for advancing growth and development covers most if not all of the strategic priorities outlined in the CARICOM Strategic Plan. Consequently, I look forward to participating in the discussions on the thematic areas that have been outlined in the programme, and to the exchange of views on how best to operationalise the strategies advanced in the plan.”
Dr. Harris concluded his presentation to the rfegionasl forum by calling for creative and innovative thinking in the repositioning of the region and it’s acceleration towards integration.
“The current economic climate dictates that it cannot be business as usual. It is time for us to put our heads together, think outside of the box and find creative and innovative ways to foster the repositioning of the Community, accelerate regional integration and reform of the Community’s governance arrangements.
It is time for us to accept that we are one people, with a shared history, a challenging future and a destiny beckoning us always to work together in unity for our common and collective good. We will be better together in fashioning our responses to the imperatives of the CSME, and in responding to the external shocks and the asymmetrical power relations of the multiplex world,” Dr. Harris Concluded.
