Building Maintenance Officer, Mr. Nigel Webbe

Basseterre, St. Kitts (Tuesday, October 17th, 2023) — The St. Christopher Air & Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) is overseeing a significant expansion at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport, aimed at accommodating the rising influx of passengers. The project involves the construction of a new stairway and ramp to facilitate a state-of-the-art departure gate terminal.

The proposed departure terminal, designated as Gate 6, is set to enhance the airport’s operational capacity, providing additional seating and entertainment options to ensure a seamless and enjoyable passenger experience.

Construction commenced earlier this month, with the installation of a concrete ramp and staircase. In the coming weeks, safety railings and other features will be added to complement the exterior structure.

In preparation for the installation of Departure Gate Terminal 6, the bar area in the departure lounge has been efficiently relocated.

Building Maintenance Officer, Mr. Nigel Webbe, anticipates the completion of Departure Gate Terminal 6 by November 2023. He emphasized the Authority’s dedication to modernizing the RLB International Airport, outlining ongoing projects including additional seating, repainting of the Customs Baggage area, and the future restoration of the VIP Lounge.

Under the Airport Rehabilitation Project, SCASPA has undertaken various phases, including the resurfacing of the runway and taxiways. Phase II is set to focus on enhancing the apron to better accommodate larger aircraft and increased airlift traffic.

Minister Marsha T. Henderson, overseeing SCASPA, reaffirmed her commitment to the successful completion of these projects. During this transformation, SCASPA seeks understanding and patience from customers, passengers, and stakeholders.
