Dr. Kenny Anthony Concedes. Steps Down as St.Lucia Labour Party Leader
The following is a statement issued by Dr. Kenny Anthony former Prime Minister of St.Lucia
“On behalf of the Saint Lucia Labour Party and also on my personal behalf, I congratulate Mr. Allen Chastanet, Leader of the United Workers Party on his victory at the polls today, June 6, 2016.
On all accounts, this was a convincing victory. It is clear there was a major national swing against the Saint Lucia Labour Party.
I wish the people of Saint Lucia the very best as we embark on this new journey.
As to my future, I do not intend to serve as the Leader of the Opposition and indeed, Political Leader of the Saint Lucia Labour Party. I will, however, continue to serve my constituents of Vieux-Fort South and support my other Parliamentary colleagues in their various constituencies as they seek to protect the interests of their constituents.
I am deeply grateful for the honour of serving the people of Saint Lucia as Prime Minister for nearly three terms.
My special thanks to the people of Vieux-Fort South for electing me as their Parliamentary Representative for the fifth time.”
One definitely has to concede to defeat especially when it is of such high margin. Comrade Kenny you served with integrity and fearlessness over the years, but that’s the power of democracy with the region and they people of St.Lucia have exercise their rights, so I believe is high time to put all the differences aside and rally with the people of St.Licia for a better and brighter future.
God bless the New Government and the people of St. Lucia as they chart a new course forward.
I think this is the fitting thing to do stepping down as leader. I also like how he congratulated Mr. Chastanet. This is a real politician. Well done Mr Anthony.
I really wish i could have said the same NOBLE thing about Mr Eaustace in St. Vincent.
Comrade you were forewarned!
Tet ou twop wed? Hard Headiness!

All power to the people. Many brilliant Caribbean leaders lacks the capacity to inspire the people to greatness. Kennedy Anthony is one such leader. He may have good intention for St Lucia, but he just didn’t deliver.
Youth unemployment in the region is chronic and none of the leaders in the Windward Island seems to know how to fix it. I have to wait and see if Allan Chastanet have any solution to this regional problem.
Thank you Dr Anthony, you served the people of saint Lucia well. God bless.
Congratulations to our new Government. Let us continue to work hard fellow Saint Lucians.
