PRIDE roars and grounds Falcons in SKNABA BIGGER, BETTER AND More Exciting season opener!!
Basketball City,(Sunday April 3rd ) It was indeed a BIGGER, BETTER AND MORE Exciting opening night at Basketball City on a beautiful Sunday evening. The entire Sandy Point community had just concluded it’s 6th staging of BLACK SAN’ and with the festivities came an opportunity for both teams to rest their players.
A disappointing knock out tournament loss had taken place a few weeks earlier, so there was motivation. PRIDE’s starting center Rasheed ‘Logging’ Williams left in the first quarter with a nagging foot injury, advantage Falcons.
The table was set for the 2015 A-division runners up to make a statement on a national stage. And indeed a statement was heard load and clear, however it came in the form of a load ROAR!
Sunday’s final: PRIDE 86, Falcons 75.
Taslin ‘Mini-Wade’ Belboda controlled the tempo all night en route to registering a triple double with 22pts-10rebs-10 asst, while the other half of PRIDEs lethal starting back court, Chavez ‘Beto’ Belboda led all scorers with 23 pts to go along with his 3 steals. PRIDE handed Falcons its first regular season loss in two seasons.
“We saw a number of good things tonight as well as a few glitches that we intend to fine tune in the upcoming practices. Defensively we can be much better, however we wish to single out Miguel ‘Sort Out’ Browne and ‘Dilyn ‘Ziggy’ Liddie who embraced the challenge of shadowing the other team’s best offensive player tonight!” PRIDE coach Rameese Belboda said. “So give them credit.”
PRIDE’s offense hummed at an incredible rate all game with all starters contributing to the final tally that saw versatile small forward Sheeno ‘Jeezy’ Liddie lodging 20 pts 11 reb 1 asst 5 stl and the nimble Stephen ‘Bassue’ Rawlins with 6pts 8 rebs.
A team that the other seven A-division rivals most definitely view as a championship-contending peer, without its starting center much of the night, controlled the game from the tip, outhusstling and outclassing it’s opponent on a national stage.
“This is a great start for a new club. Now that we’ve gotten rid of the opening night jitters we can now focus on playing the way we know we can!.”
The hunt is on!! Who’s next?
