Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Shawn Richards paid a visit to the Donghua University whilst leading a SKN Delegation on a recent trip to Taiwan. The University which is regarded as a leader in Higher Education in Taiwan gave Deputy PM Richards and the delegation a very warm welcome. In a speech given at the Welcome Ceremony , University President Zhao Hanji said that in recent years, Donghua has been committed to internationalization and has gradually made Donghua a leader in higher education in the world. In this year’s Times Higher Education World Rankings for Emerging Economies Rankings (2018), the University ranked 17th . The 17th place indicates that the progress of Donghua University is obvious to all. He expressed his hope that through the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister Richards , he will encourage more students from the country to choose Tung Wah and become a part of the Tung Wah family in the future.
Deputy Prime Minister Richards responded and indicated his appreciation for the welcome as well as was impressed with the high academic standard of the University and was very pleased to see many SKN students . The delegation listened to and observed the students’ participating in classes , extra-curricular activities and community service activities.
When addressing the speech f Steven Richard, SKN student representative of Donghua University, said that in addition to being surprised and happy about the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister to Hualien, he also expressed to the Deputy Prime Minister more about the academic environment and counseling provided by Donghua University. Students are highly confident. As the first SKN students to come to Tung Wah, we see that today Tung Wah is the most popular university for students from the country. We also hope to visit the delegation through visits to allow more people from our home country to witness the beauty of Taiwan and Donghua.
After the symposium, the students of Keguo actively participated in the campus tour for the Deputy Prime Minister’s visiting group and climbed the library tower to view the panorama of the campus. With the experience of studying in Donghua, the students introduced the beautiful campus environment to the delegation. The warm moments of meeting his compatriots in other places in the country have enabled the Deputy Prime Minister’s delegation to have a deeper understanding and impression of the quality and environment of Tung Wah’s teaching, to promote academic exchanges and expand bilateral relations, so as to bring St.Kitts-Nevis and Taiwan closer together.
