BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, November 19, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – The 25th anniversary celebrations of Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris as a Member of Parliament for Constituency #7 (Belle Vue to Ottley’s Village) continued on Sunday (November 18, 2018) with a lively service at the Antioch Baptist Church in Haynes Smith Village.
The decision to host part of the celebratory activities outside of Constituency #7 is a reminder that Prime Minister Harris’ dedicated service to the people extends beyond the boundaries of his constituency, as he and his Team Unity administration have touched the lives of citizens and residents throughout the length and breadth of the Federation.
Sunday’s fellowship was the second of three planned church services for the celebrations.
Joining Prime Minister Harris and the regular worshippers of the Antioch Baptist Church were His Excellency the Governor General, Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton; Ministers of Government including the Honourable Lindsay Grant and the Honourable Eugene Hamilton; Cabinet Secretary, Mrs. Josephine Huggins; Senator the Honourable Akilah Byron-Nisbett, senior government officials and representatives of the diplomatic corps.
Pastor Lincoln Connor led the special thanksgiving service, at which time he offered his own congratulations to the Honourable Prime Minister for his 25 years of service to the people of the Federation.
As he has consistently done at the other previously held 25th anniversary events, Prime Minister Harris thanked all those who played an instrumental role throughout his political life, as well as all those who have given support over the last 25 years and continue to be a source of encouragement to him.
“For me, it’s really a story of gratitude, for so many people have done so much and have meant so much to me that I just want to say ‘a hearty thank’ you to all of you. My constituents who trusted me and, time after time, reposed their confidence in me, I owe you a debt a gratitude from the heart…and I will do my best to be worthy of your continuing support,” said the Prime Minister.
Dr. Harris also expressed special words of appreciation to his Cabinet colleagues “who have been with me and who have helped me, because indeed all of what we have been able to accomplish so far have been [as a result] of teamwork.”
Pastor Connor and members of the Antioch Baptist Church’s worship team offered a special prayer for Prime Minister Harris as Head of Government.
Sunday’s thanksgiving service also saw a dance recital by Divine Praise and a song rendition from the Constituency #7 choir, while the scripture reading was delivered by Senator Byron-Nisbett.
