WATCH Video: Jamaica Tallawah Tramples the Guyana Amazon Warriors to win CPL Tournament Final 2016 in St.Kitts

Basseterre, St.Kitts (August 8th 2016):- A Packed stadium in the heart of Basseterre, St.Kitts played host to the 2016 CPL finals which saw the Jamaica Tallawahs defeating the Guyana Amazon Warriors by nine wickets in a one-sided Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2016 final at Warner Park on Sunday.

Over 10,000 spectators packed the stadium to see the much anticipated final between the two regional cricketing giants.

After winning the toss, Tallawahs skipper Chris Gayle decided to bowl first. The decision was spot on as Tallawahs shot out Amazon Warriors for a paltry 92. Pakistani left-arm pacer Sohail Tanvir was the only shine with the bat for the Warriors, as he scored a gritty 42 off 37 balls.

 

Tanvir’s Pakistan compatriot, Imad Wasim starred with the ball, scalping three wickets to crush the opposition. Imad, who was later adjudged the man of the match, was well supported Shakib Al Hasan (2 for 25) and Kesrick Williams (2 for 12).

 

Chasing 92 never seemed a problem for the Tallawahs as Gayle scored a quickfire 54 off 27 balls to guide his team to victory in just 12.5 overs. It was a typical Gayle innings, which included three fours and six mammoth sixes.

 

Sri Lankan great Kumar Sangakkara hit the winning runs, a four off Veerasammy Permaul to clinch the CPL title for the second time.
