Traffic Jam St.Kitts Edition….Four Cruise Ships Visit St. Kitts In One Day

BASSETERRE (2nd December, 2016): The cruise sector of St. Kitts buzzed with activity as four cruise ships visited the destination Thursday, with a combined maximum capacity of more than 11,000 passengers.
 
Calling on St. Kitts was the Aida Luna, TUI Discovery, Queen Mary 2 and the Freedom of the Seas.
 
CEO of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Racquel Brown, said that today demonstrated that St. Kitts is the destination to be on cruise itineraries, as visitors embarked on various island tours, adventurous excursions and indulged in number of exciting beach activities.

“We hope to see many more days like this, as we work together in partnership with all stakeholders to develop a sustainable and even more prosperous tourism cruise sector,” CEO Brown said. 

 This week saw multiple cruise ships every day, with three ships making inaugural calls to St. Kitts. Those ships were the Balmoral of Fred Olson Cruises, which arrived on Sunday 27th November; MSC Opera of the MSC Cruises, which arrived on Tuesday 28th November; and the Koiningsdam of Holland America Line, which arrived on Wednesday 30th November.

Cruise ships will make a total of 391 calls to St. Kitts in this cruise season, with 16 new ships arriving here for the very first time.

In the last cruise season (2015-’16) cruise ships made 373 calls to St. Kitts, bringing 913,716 passengers, which was the most ever in a cruise season. This cruise season (2016-’17) is expected to be another record breaking season with a projected arrival of 1,125,927 passengers.
