BRIDGETOWN: Barbados health officials say the latest three cases of people with the zika virus there have occurred with women who are pregnant.
The latest results from the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) bring the number of confirmed cases in Barbados to seven, even though there are scores of other suspected cases.
The news comes as they are increasing concern that the virus in pregnant woman could be linked to some birth abnormalities.
But in an immediate statement issued, the Barbados Ministry of Health said the overall link between the Zika virus, babies with small heads and neurological abnormalities, was still under investigation, and therefore, the relationship between the virus and microcephaly had not been established.
