St.Kitts-Nevis Prime Minister Courts UK Business
Earlier today, the Honourable Dr Timothy Harris was keynote speaker at the London-based Caribbean Council where he addressed a mixed group of business leaders, entrepreneurs and financiers with interest in the Caribbean. Dr Harris was invited to address the group of nearly fifty individuals to apprise them of his new Government’s priorities and policies.
The Prime minister outlined the many areas for investment and invited participants to visit the twin-island Federation “to experience for themselves the lifestyle and investment opportunities available in the tranquil, progressive and beautiful country.” He told them that St. Kitts and Nevis was”eager to embrace them and to work in solidarity with them to realise their business aims and to fulfil the legitimate development aspirations of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.”
Dr Harris also advised that his new Unity Administration will be welcoming to business and “will give support through legislative and administrative measures that would ensure ease in doing business on the islands.” He drew attention to some of the priority areas such as health/medical tourism; offshore education and education tourism; agriculture and agro-processing development; the energy sector (geo-thermal, wind and solar) and electronics manufacturing.
The Prime Minister expressed his delight that two of the main sponsors of the morning’s event were based in St. Kitts Nevis – the Kittitian Hill and Christophe Harbour.
Later in the day, the Honourable Prime Minister was the special guest of one of the UK’s most prominent businessman who congratulated him on his victory in the February elections. Also at the power lunch meeting were seven other hugely successful international business people with transcontinental operations – who are intimately aware of the opportunities of St. Kitts Nevis, want to learn more about the islands and were anxious to hear from and engage the prime minister. Most of these businessmen continuously look for opportunities where they can expand their ventures and make their way into newer markets. Ongoing partnerships with brokerage firms like Ventura Business Brokers helps them acquire smaller companies and make a larger impact on the market. Entry into St. Kitts can be yet another milestone for these pioneers; they would be more than happy to include the Caribbean in their business pursuits.
The Prime Minister briefed them on the priorities, urged them to invest and thanked them for their on-going interest and obvious eagerness to engage St. Kitts Nevis as a potential for their entry into the Caribbean.
The Prime Minster was accompanied by his Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs and Justice, the Honourable Vincent Byron and the High Commissioner to the UK, His Excellency Dr Kevin M. Isaac.
