St.Kitts-Nevis Police Urges Public To Speak Up- “See Something? Say Something !!!
Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 05, 2015 (SKNIS): Much of the recent successes by law enforcement in St. Kitts and Nevis can be attributed to collaboration – collaboration between the police and the defence force and also the public and the private sector. Officials declare however that the most important collaboration has been the partnership between the police and the public.
Members of the High Command of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force have been complimentary of the support the organization has received in recent weeks. In fact, Acting Commissioner Stafford Liburd has stated that recent charges of murder, attempted murder and robbery were a direct result of tips from ordinary citizens.
“It is through consistent cooperation by the public,” Liburd emphasized.
Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris added his voice to the chorus encouraging persons to support the crime fighting efforts and report suspicious activity.
“Usually someone knows,” he said, referring to the identity of persons who commit criminal acts. “You may think that you are protecting a friend but your baby, your brother, your sister may end up being the victim of your silence.”
Concerned citizens can provide information at the nearest police station or can do so anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477.
