St.Kitts-Nevis Diaspora Affairs Officer at the Permanent Mission of St. Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations, Mr. Thomas Alva Pemberton, will be honoured as the Caribbean Man of the Year in 2020. 

Pemberton will be bestowed with the honor on June 9th, 2020 at a Gala event dubbed the Annual Salute to New York City’s Non-Profits and the neighbourhood they serve.The grand affair takes place as part of the Caribbean Heritage Month celebrations in New York. 

The Neighborhood Technical Assistance Clinic  (NTAC) Gala helps to strengthen the efforts of NYC Non-Profits of many Caribbean concentrated neighborhoods of New York.  The support provides technical assistance training to grassroots organizations as well as funding for others throughout 2020. 

The event takes place  at the Giando on the Water, 400 Kent Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, from  7:00-10:00 PM

Pemberton was born and raised in Tabernacle, St.Kitts. He is a Business and Accounting graduate of Lehman College in NYC and is the President/CEO of TDE Tours Connection, one of the leading Travel Companies in North America. He is among the elite CLIA’s Certified Cruise Counsellors who are also the cruise industry’s premiere travel professionals.  In addition, Pemberton is a Certified Travel Industry Specialist. 

The Neighborhood Technical Assistance Clinic (NTAC),  organisers of the annual gala event, is a strategic partner and advisor to philanthropists, foundations, government and political entities, public institutions, grassroots Non-Profit organizations, and faith-based institutions wishing to improve their programs and organizational effectiveness in addressing the needs of low-income and service-starved communities. 

For over 20 years, NTAC has focused on grassroots and community-centered Non-Profit endeavors, building an impressive portfolio of experience and best practices.  The organization has skillfully customized trainings and hands-on guidance designed to build the capacity of volunteers, staff, management and board level Non-Profit practitioners.  

Pemberton will join other notables who have been similarly awarded over the years, including  Former Mayor of New York David Dinkins, Owen Hawthorne of the Golden Krust Company, New York Kings County Supreme Court Justice Sylvia Ashe, Antiguan Pan Legend Patrick Johnny Gomes, Former West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA) Trinidadian-born President Yolanda Lezama-Clarke, among others.
