ST. KITTS AND NEVIS ASSUMES GRULAC CHAIRMANSHIP AT UNITED NATIONS
United Nations, New York (6th January 2025) – In a testament to its growing diplomatic influence, the Permanent Mission of St. Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations has assumed the Chairmanship of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean States (GRULAC).
H.E. Dr. Mutryce Williams, Permanent Representative of St. Kitts and Nevis to the UN, takes over from H.E. Menissa Rambally, Permanent Representative of Saint Lucia, highlighting regional solidarity during a pivotal time for multilateral diplomacy.
Ambassador Williams expressed her gratitude for the honor, stating, “It is a privilege to serve the Federation and our regional fraternity in this auspicious position.” She emphasized that this chairmanship underscores the Federation’s commitment to addressing global challenges such as financing for development, sustainable development, and climate action.
This new role offers St. Kitts and Nevis a unique platform to enhance relationships within Latin America and the Caribbean—an area identified by both the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister as key to advancing diplomatic and development objectives amid shifting geopolitical and economic landscapes.
GRULAC, one of the United Nations’ five Regional Groups, is comprised of 33 Member States from Central and South America and the Caribbean. The group plays a critical role in fostering regional cooperation and advancing shared interests on the global stage.
With this chairmanship, St. Kitts and Nevis solidifies its position as a leader in international diplomacy, furthering its vision to foster meaningful partnerships and champion regional and global development initiatives.
