TAMPA, FL – A Royal Caribbean cruise ship’s seven-day voyage turned alarming just three days in after a viral outbreak struck nearly 90 passengers and crew members, prompting an investigation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Radiance of the Seas departed from Tampa, Florida, on Saturday for its scheduled journey to Mexico, Honduras, and Belize. However, reports of a mysterious illness surfaced on Tuesday, leading to an official alert to the CDC’s Vessel Sanitation Program.

According to CDC reports, 89 passengers and two crew members were affected, experiencing severe gastrointestinal symptoms, including diarrhea and vomiting. Health officials are now working to determine the cause of the outbreak and ensure proper sanitation measures are in place.

Royal Caribbean has since implemented enhanced cleaning protocols and urged passengers to maintain strict hygiene practices. The ship continues on its voyage while medical personnel monitor the affected individuals.
