Native of British Virgin Islands with Ties to St. Kitts Gunned Down over Parking Dispute in the Bronx

NEW YORK, NY – In a senseless act of violence, a 49-year-old Bronx resident with roots in the British Virgin Islands and Cayon, St. Kitts was shot and killed early Saturday morning after a dispute over a parking spot.

Trevor Hughes, a native of the British Virgin Islands with ties to Cayon, St. Kitts, was gunned down in front of his home on the 1700 block of Fowler Avenue near Morris Park Avenue in Morris Park at approximately 1:54 a.m. on February 8.

According to police sources, Hughes was involved in an argument with two unidentified men over a parking spot, which escalated into a violent confrontation. One of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot Hughes in the abdomen, causing fatal injuries.

Emergency responders were quickly summoned to the scene and rushed Hughes to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The suspects, described as two men who fled the scene in a Jeep SUV, remain at large as authorities continue their investigation. No arrests have been made to date.

The fatal shooting has left the community shaken, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.

The 49th Precinct is leading the investigation, and police are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses in an effort to identify the suspects.

As the investigation continues, the family and loved ones of Trevor Hughes are left to grapple with the loss of a life cut short in a senseless act of violence.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the 49th Precinct said, “This is a tragic incident that should not have occurred. We urge anyone with information to come forward and assist us in bringing those responsible to justice.”
