Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, November 29, 2024 (NEMA) – With just two days left until the start of  the 13th Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM 13), final preparations  near completion in St. Kitts and Nevis.

The week-long conference will take place from December 2-6, 2024, in the Federation, marking the first  time this prestigious event will be hosted by a member of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States  (OECS). The conference, under the theme “Road to Resilience – Checkpoint 2024: Levelling Up for a  Dynamic Future,” will bring together regional and international disaster management experts,  policymakers, and practitioners. Livingston Pemberton, National Disaster Coordinator at the National  Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), shared four key points that will shape discussions and  initiatives at CDM 13. They are:

1. Assess Caribbean Progress: Evaluate the region’s efforts toward building disaster resilience and  identify critical areas for improvement.

2. Highlight Innovative Solutions: Showcase solutions and strategic partnerships that strengthen  disaster risk management in Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

3. Facilitate High-Level Dialogue: Create opportunities for collaboration among governments, the  private sector, and international organizations.

4. Empower Stakeholders: Provide the knowledge and tools needed to elevate resilience-building  initiatives and safeguard the region’s future.

These objectives will guide the conference in its mission to foster stronger, more resilient communities across the Caribbean.

Register for CDM 13 at www.cdema.org/cdm13 and join the conversation on shaping a more resilient  Caribbean.
