Basseterre, St.Kitts (August 10th 2015):- Internist at the JNF Hospital Dr. Bichara Sahely has commented on the issue regarding accusation made by Dr. Terrance Drew against the new Team UNITY Government. In an email response sent to the SKNList Group which comprises over 10,000 St.Kitts-Nevis email subscribers Dr Sahely confirmed the Hospitals need for an internist and also indicated that since August of 2014 the problem existed.
Sahely stated “The lives of the ordinary citizens are in danger, not from the hospital end, but from the street end by the violence and crime that still exists. I do not deal with GSWs or trauma victims, that is the surgeon’s responsibility. And we have two surgeons here.”
“ Yes, there is a need for an extra internist at the hospital, since last year, August 2014 when the other internist retired. I guess the previous administration was also more concerned about politics rather than the health of the nation, or they may have thought I was the real ten-man-in-one,” said Dr Sahely
Sahely continued “I am only one-man-in-one. The sooner everyone accepts this, the better it will be for everyone.
I have said this before publicly on this forum and other social media. Dr Drew, and two other medical colleagues were taken advantage of by the political leader of the previous administration. He used them to enhance his political image and political survivability at the expense of the future careers of our colleagues.
Please lay the blame where it should lie, not at Team Unity’s feet. The three colleagues erred in their complicity of his scheme.

Dr. Sahely, Please explain what’s going on at the Hospital! My understanding is that you are the only Internist there, and that you are crying out for help, but the Government is refusing the help of Dr. Drew for fear it would enhance his political image. Are you helping the situation by being quiet on this matter? One can recall how open you were during the campaign of Team Unity, and advocated what will be done with such a Government if they should assume office; now they have, and there is a need for a public outcry from you, as the lives of the ordinary citizens of the Federation are in danger, your silence is deafening, while this Team Unity Government is playing politics.
