In a landmark move ahead of the SKNFA Elective Congress slated for January 12, 2025, Director of Sports Jeffrey Hazel has officially presented his candidacy and vision for the future of St. Kitts and Nevis football. In a detailed letter addressed to SKNFA member clubs, Hazel outlined his comprehensive strategy under the banner of Team Jeffrey Hazel, promising transformative leadership and bold action to elevate the nation’s football.

A Call to Unity and Resilience

“As I step boldly into 2025, I greet you with hope, determination, and an unyielding commitment to serve as your next elected President of the SKNFA,” Hazel began. He emphasized the pressing need for unity in the face of challenges, while highlighting the passion and resilience that define football in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Hazel acknowledged the support of his proposed executive team, including:

  • Don Grant – 1st Vice President
  • Aisha Duggins – 2nd Vice President
  • Ronald ‘Louis’ Williams – Council Member
  • Juliana Sargeant – Council Member
  • Almon Crooke – Council Member
  • Troy ‘Spuddy’ Hendrickson – Council Member

Five Pillars of Transformation

Hazel’s vision rests on five key pillars aimed at revamping SKNFA’s structure, governance, and football development:

  1. Sustainable Football Development: Redirecting council member stipends to fund youth and women’s football development, with input from member clubs and players.
  2. Infrastructure Modernization: Partnering with the government to modernize Football House, the Technical Center, and other assets while prioritizing sustainability.
  3. International Success: Building competitive teams at all levels to regularly qualify for international tournaments.
  4. Equity for Women’s Football: Addressing inequalities faced by women players, ensuring equal access to resources and opportunities.
  5. Good Governance: Promoting transparency, collaboration, and a democratic process to restore trust and accountability in football governance.

A Vision of Hope and Progress

Hazel closed his letter by invoking the Federation’s motto, “Country above Self”, as a guiding principle for his campaign and future leadership. “Together, we can build a St. Kitts-Nevis Football product that is resilient, prosperous, healthy, and united. A beacon of hope in our communities yearning for solutions,” he stated.

As the SKNFA election approaches, Hazel’s message of resilience, equity, and progress is resonating with stakeholders eager for a renewed and inclusive direction in local football.
