The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has congratulated the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis on the country’s 35th Anniversary of Independence, and noted that the Community has benefitted from the commitment of the country’s government and people towards the integration movement.

Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, in a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris especially acknowledged  the role of St. Kitts and Nevis in advancing issues related to Human Resource Development, Health and HIV/Aids, its portfolio in the Quasi-Cabinet of CARICOM.

This year’s Anniversary is being observed under the theme “Love, Service, Patriotism and Pride, Independence 35”, which the Secretary-General noted is a reminder of the attributes the people of St. Kitts and Nevis have employed to build a strong nation.

“The country can celebrate with mush pride the various achievements in music, tourism, sports, education and business,” the Secretary-General said.

“In congratulating St. Kitts and Nevis on this important milestone, I reaffirm my own commitment and that of the staff of the CARICOM Secretariat to working diligently alongside you and your government to realise your aspirations for the people of your nation,” he added.
