Dominica’s Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerritt, embarked on a significant diplomatic mission to Beijing, where he engaged in high-level discussions aimed at bolstering the enduring relationship between Dominica and China. The pivotal meeting took place on Monday, where Prime Minister Skerritt met with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

During their meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the bonds of friendship between their nations. They discussed the long-standing relationship and pledged to deepen cooperation across various fields through robust exchanges and increased collaboration.

Prime Minister Skerritt’s diplomatic efforts extended beyond his meeting with President Xi Jinping. On the same day, he also held discussions with Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, the Chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, further solidifying diplomatic ties between Dominica and China.

Prime Minister Skerritt’s visit wasn’t solely focused on diplomatic discussions; he also had the opportunity to observe cutting-edge business practices during his stay in Beijing. On Saturday, shortly after his arrival, Skerritt was invited to witness the innovative business operations of prominent firms in the Chinese capital.

One notable visit during the trip was to Huawei, a global leader in information and communications technology. Skerritt and his delegation toured Huawei’s facilities on Sunday, gaining insights into the company’s advancements and contributions to the tech industry.

The visit underscores Dominica’s commitment to nurturing strategic partnerships and exploring avenues for mutual growth and development. Prime Minister Skerritt’s engagements in China serve as a testament to the importance of diplomatic relations and the pursuit of shared goals on the global stage.
