Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Shawn K Richards Lauds Accomplishments of St.Kitts-Nevis Students at University of the Virgin Islands Commencement
Deputy Prime Minister Hon Shawn at Richards personally delivered Congratulations on his behalf and on behalf of Team UNITY and the entire Federation of St.Kitts-Nevis to the graduating nationals from UVI’s class of 2016.
Hon. Shawn K Richards was a special guest at his Alma Mater the UVI and was able to personally laud the tremendous accomplishments of the St.Kitts-Nevis Nationals of the gradiating class of 2016. Hon Richards said that the federation should be proud of the accomplishments of the students. Some 15 Nationals graduated three of whom were among the top 5 graduates for the annual commencement. The Three Top Students were Class Speaker Patrice Renee Harris, Darcier Wilkerson and Taylor-Marie Manners.
Richards declared that the success of the St.Kitts-Nevis students were due to their dedication in addition to the Federation’s Memorandum of Understanding with the University.
The University of the Virgin Islands awarded nearly 300 degrees at the 52nd annual Commencement Ceremonies held on May 12 and 13, on the St. Thomas Campus and the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix, respectively. More than 200 degrees were awarded.
Vice Chancellor of The University of the West Indies, Sir Hilary Beckles – distinguished scholar, international historian, transformation leader and Caribbean intellectual was the UVI’s 2016 commencement keynote speaker. Beckles was also awarded an honorary doctorate. Ruth Moolenaar, of St. Thomas, and Richard A. Schrader, Sr. of St. Croix, also received honorary doctorates.
