Basseterre, St.Kitts (March 17th 2016):-The Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the Dr. William Connor Primary School has lauded the success of the school at the just concluded Rams Primary Schools Championships. President of the PTA Andre Huie, said in a press release issued Tuesday, that the school’s triumph at the track meet, is testament to the hard work and resilience of the students. “This is a remarkable achievement and one that is long in the making,” Mr. Huie said. “Dr. William Connor Primary School is blessed with remarkable student athletes and it was only a matter of time before they rose to the summit of the nation’s primary school athletics championships. We at the PTA are very pleased with their success and on behalf of the executive, congratulate the school on this amazing achievement,” the PTA president continued.

Mr. Huie noted that the school is a hallmark of success in every area—from academics to sports. “It was just in February the school placed second in the Desmond E. Ward Effective Speaking Competition with one of our students Hadassah Cuffy winning the best prepared speech. And last October another student Daniel Thompson won the Financial Information Quiz. In 2014 Ishante Adams won the Inaugural 2014 Primary School Effective Speaking Competition dominating all categories. The Dr. William Connor Primary School is undoubtedly a school of excellence,” Mr. Huie said. “On behalf of the PTA we congratulate the entire school for a job well done and promise to support it whatever way we can for continued progress.”

After two days of keen competition at the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium over the weekend, Dr. William Connor Primary on Sunday edged out Sandy Point Primary 10 gold medals to 9. The West Basseterre school led the pack from day one with 4 gold medals compared to the closest rival Sandy Point’s 3 golds. The Dr. William Connor Primary School defeated last year’s champions Sandy Point Primary School, winning 10 gold medals to Sandy Point’s 9. In addition to winning the championships, the school’s Under 11 relay team females set a new record; Malique Wattley became the Under 9 male champion and Kyema Rawlins the under 11 Female champion.

Sixteen schools participated in various track and field events including long jump, high jump, sprints and long distance races. The budding athletes competed in Under 13, Under 11 and Under 9 male and female categories.
