The government of St.Kitts-Nevis has declared that UK Businessman Peter Virdee does not have a St.Kitts-Nevis Passport of any kind as was suggested by leader of the St.Kitts Opposition Dr. Denzil Douglas in a recent radio interview.
In a release issued the Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris led government stated
“Exhaustive checks conducted both domestically and internationally for Peter Virdee or any other permutation of his name have found NOTHING IN THE RECORDS to indicate that he holds a passport of any kind issued by the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.”
The statement continued by outlining the process taken to check and verify whether Virdee did posses a SKN passport ot not.
The statement reads ” The Ministry of National Security and the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) conducted the checks locally. The international checks were conducted by the Canadian Bank Note Company (CBN) upon the request of the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security. CBN determined that Peter Virdee DOES NOT hold a St. Kitts and Nevis passport of any kind.
CBN is the sole authorized agent for the production and provision of St. Kitts and Nevis passports.
The Canadian Bank Note Company has advised the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security with confidence that, “We DID NOT see any results in the ePassport Production Database.”
Leader of the St.Kitts Opposition Labour Party Dr. Denzil Douglas in a radio interview told the world that he had been reliably informed that Peter Virdee held a diplomatic passport of St.Kitts-Nevis and suggested that the passport may have been issued by Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris.
“Just before I came here, I was reliably informed and I have also being informed officially and confidentially and fearlessly, that Peter Virdee carries a Diplomatic passport and I am told and it is being alleged that Harris knows about it,” Dr. Denzil Douglas told listeners.
The Government issued statement concluded by categorically denying the statement made and issued by Opposition Leader Dr. Douglas
The statement concludes “The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis therefore categorically states that the spurious allegation being bandied about by mischief-makers should be discounted as a diversionary tactic to distract the public from the news involving a real Diplomatic Passport held by the Leader of the Opposition.”
