Basseterre, St.Kitts (March 8th 2017):- Today March 8th is celebrated worldwide as International Women’s Day. It is a day designated by the United NATIONS to celebrate the accomplishments of women and to promote the development of women internationally. In recognition of the the SKN Times (skntimesonline.com) has made an annual commitment to compiling and highlighting   St.Kitts-Nevis’ 40 most powerful and influential women.  The Listing was first done in 2011 and again last year. The  is not only about celebrity or popularity; it’s also about influence and power. Power usually equates to influence thus some persons listed may not be popular names but are influential solely based on their position.

They are politicians, bankers, entertainment personalities, radio announcers, business executives, CEO’s, entrepreneurs, Senior Civil Servants, Attorneys, Models, Hollywood Stylists , cultural icons and more.

Some are famous, some you may never have heard of. But their power and influence has in some way shaped the lives of many whether directly or indirectly.  .

Many of the women on the list are groundbreakers in their respective field. These are the Kittitian and Nevisian women history will remember. More importantly, they’re the women who inspire the rest of us to become better people.

The 2017 List sees a vastly new look with many new faces entering the list and being featured. This no doubt reflects the tremendous strides and development of women which we have seen over the last 2 years with many women being elevated to Senior Levels in the new Team UNITY government of St.Kitts-Nevis. Women are occupying significant positions in the government in an unprecedented manner. Over 60% of the Senior Positions in the St.Kitts-Nevis Civil Service are occupied by women.

The list was selected by a panel of professionals including a lawyer, business executive, educator, entrepreneur in addition to the Editors at the SKNTimesonline.com. No ranking system was instituted in the listing. Therefore the list is in no particular order
