Basketball City, St.Kitts (November 26th 2016):-The St.Kitts National Basketball Team are in the middle of intense training and preparation for the upcoming Leeward Islands Basketball Championships to be held in Anguilla from December 13^th to 17^th.

The Team begun training some 3 weeks ago under the keen eye of Coaches St.Clair Heads Buchannan and Glen Ghost Phillip .

30 players were selected to practice with a view of gaining selection onto the final 12 man Team that will journey to Anguilla. The 30 player squad has been trimmed down to about 18 players who are now in regular training in an effort to make the final 12.

“The practice sessions have been going well and we are very pleased with the level of enthusiasm and hard work that the players have been exhibiting,” said Glen ‘Ghost” Phillip .

Phillip was asked what are his thoughts on the chances of the team winning the upcoming tournament.

“Our focus right now is preparing the best team possible for the tournament. That I think should be the approach and that is indeed the approach we are taking and that is prepare the best team possible . I will not make any predictions beyond indicating that the coaching staff and the players have been working hard to ensure that we put together a team that will represent St.Kitts in a commendable manner,” Phillip continued

The Leeward Island Championships will feature teams from Monsterratt, Antigua, BVI, St.Maarten, Nevis and hosts Anguilla .
