THIRTY-THREE YEARS OF FAITHFUL SERVICE: CANON GLENVILLE EDWARDS CELEBRATES A PASTORAL LEGACY OF PURPOSE AND POWER!
“And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.” — Jeremiah 3:15
Basseterre, St. Kitts — In a resounding celebration of unwavering faith, dedication, and divinely inspired leadership, Canon Glenville Edwards marked his 33rd anniversary of Consecration and Ordination to the Holy Order of Priests on May 14th, 2025. This milestone commemorates a life committed to shepherding souls, transforming communities, and walking humbly with God.
It was on May 14th, 1992, during the sacred proceedings of the Diocesan Synod held at the historic Fort Thomas Hotel and St. George’s Anglican Church, that Rev. Glenville Edwards and Rev. Clarence Joseph were ordained to priesthood. Hands were laid, vows were taken, and destinies were sealed. Under the spiritual guidance of esteemed bishops, Rev. Edwards was officially anointed, and a chapter of profound ministry began.
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” — Mark 10:45
Canon Edwards’ journey through the Diocese of the North Eastern Caribbean and Aruba has been nothing short of extraordinary. From his formative years as a Curate at St. John’s Cathedral in Antigua to his first official placement as Parish Priest of St. Mary’s, Cayon in St. Kitts, he has ministered with humility, intellect, and spiritual fervor.
In 2005, he deepened his theological foundation at Birmingham University, graduating with honours—further strengthening his resolve to serve the people of God with clarity and conviction.
His ministry flourished in Antigua, leading parishes including St. Stephen’s and St. Philip’s, and later taking on the triune charge of St. Luke, St. Boniface, and St. Lucy. His move in 2022 to the Pro-Cathedral of St. George in Basseterre—where he now serves as Provost and Parish Priest—has been described by parishioners as both “divinely appointed” and “spiritually rejuvenating.”
“Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.” — Matthew 25:21
Canon Edwards’ ministry has been marked by his integrity, wisdom, and pastoral care. Whether presiding over sacred sacraments, offering counsel to the brokenhearted, or standing boldly in the pulpit, he has embodied the servant-leadership modeled by Christ Himself.
Today, as the Anglican community and the faithful across St. Kitts and Nevis and Antigua give thanks for his 33 years of priestly ministry, we are reminded that such a legacy is not merely counted in years—but in souls touched, hearts healed, and lives redirected toward the light of Christ.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.” — Luke 4:18
We extend congratulations and blessings to Canon Glenville Edwards and his family. May the anointing on his life continue to flow with even greater grace, and may the next chapter of his ministry be filled with divine favour and unshakable purpose.
Happy 33rd Pastoral Anniversary, Canon Edwards—your life is a living sermon, and your walk is a testament of faith!
