The stage is set! Project P.O.E.T.R.Y National High School Spoken Word Poetry Competition this Saturday!
Basseterre, St. Kitts, – Wednesday 25th November, 2015: 7 HIGH SCHOOLS, 14 PERFORMANCES, 1 GRAND PRIZE OF $1,500!! The 2015 Project P.O.E.T.R.Y National High School Spoken Word Poetry Competition is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and entertaining shows since its inception in 2010. The show takes place this coming Saturday 28th November, at the sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium at the ECCB, Bird Rock, St. Kitts, starting promptly ay 6PM. It is expected to see scores of students, teachers and well-wishers from all participating schools showing up and showing off for their representative.
Participants in this year’s competition come from high schools in both St. Kitts and Nevis. Representing Gingerland Secondary is Rol-J Williams, Charlestown Secondary represented by Seamus O’Flaherty and Nevis International Secondary’s representative is Devaughn Roland. On the St. Kitts front, four high school will be taking part in the competition. Basseterre High School will be represented by Alana Webbe, Cayon High by Darenice Dedier, Washington Archibald High by Telston Murraine and Inshan Liburd will be representing the Verchilds High School. All participants have been partnered with a mentor to assist with their overall delivery on the night of the competition, to ensure that all patrons enjoy a show of a high standard on competition night.
“The participants have been working hard at perfecting their craft and have promised to deliver their best work on the night of the competition,” said Jihan Williams, Logistics Coordinator for the 2015 Project P.O.E.T.R.Y National High School Spoken Word Poetry Competition. “Everyone who comes out to support the participants can also expect a night filled with entertainment from young local talent in the form of drumming, dancing, singing and poetry.”
The general public is invited to the 2015 Project P.O.E.T.R.Y National High School Spoken Word Poetry Competition this coming Saturday 28th November at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium at 6PM. Admission is FREE!
