BASSETERRE (5th Nov., 2017): The St. Kitts cruise sector continues to boom with growth, with an additional new ship starting to visit the destination.
On Friday the Minister of Tourism The Hon. Lindsay F.P. Grant, along with the CEO of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Racquel Brown, led a delegation of stakeholders to give a special welcome to the Captain, crew and passengers of the Viking Sky.
The Viking Sky, which is operated by Viking Ocean Cruises, was on a 15 day itinerary when she arrived in St. Kitts for the first time with a maximum capacity of 930 passengers.
“Viking Ocean Cruises is confident in St. Kitts as a cruise destination to provide memorable experiences for their passengers,” Minister Grant said. “Captain, I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to explore island and experience St. Kitts, to understand why the island has become one of the leading cruise destination in the Caribbean.”
Ships from the Viking Ocean Cruises will make a total of 16 calls to St. Kitts, with one visit being an overnight stay.
The nightlife in St. Kitts will see a boost in economic activity when the Viking Sky’s sister ship, the Viking Sea, overnights next week on Wednesday 8th November. Passengers are expected to visit restaurants, bars, clubs and other night spots.
The Viking Sky is the fifth ship to arrive in St. Kitts for the first time in this 2017-’18 cruise season, which started in October: The Monarch on 3rd October, the Sirena on 11th October and the Viking Sea on the 25th October and the Zenith on 30th October. A total of 12 ships will arrive for the first time in this cruise season.
