Saddlers Secondary School to Be Officially Renamed in Honour of Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas on September 1st
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS – August 6, 2025
A historic moment awaits the educational community and residents of the north as the Saddlers Secondary School prepares to be officially renamed in honour of one of the Federation’s most distinguished statesmen — the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas.

According to a formal invitation released by the Ministry of Education, the Renaming Ceremony will take place on Monday, September 1st, 2025, at 9:00 AM, on the school’s grounds. The invitation reads, “You are cordially invited to the Renaming Ceremony of the Saddlers Secondary School.”
The event is expected to draw national attention as the school adopts the new title: “The Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas Secondary School” — a tribute to the former Prime Minister and current Senior Minister whose legacy of leadership and commitment to education has left an indelible mark on the Federation.
Dr. Douglas, who served as Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis from 1995 to 2015, has long been an advocate for education, technology, and youth empowerment — themes that align strongly with the school’s motto: “In Pursuit of Excellence Through Skills and Technology.”
The renaming initiative is being celebrated by alumni, educators, and government officials alike, recognizing Dr. Douglas’ historic contributions to national development and his enduring impact on the northern communities of Constituency #6, which he has represented in Parliament since 1989.
The event will feature dignitaries, students, alumni, and the wider community. The Ministry of Education has encouraged invited guests to RSVP via sss@moe.edu.kn.
The September 1st ceremony is set to be a landmark occasion, not only for the school community but for the Federation, as it honours a leader whose legacy continues to inspire future generations.
