PLP’s Claudine Saunders Applauds Historic AUF Victory and First Female Premier of Anguilla

People’s Labour Party (PLP) Constituency#8 Chairperson Claudine Saunders has extended warm congratulations to the newly elected Anguilla United Front (AUF) government, led by Cora Richardson-Hodge, the first female Premier of Anguilla.

In a heartfelt social media post, Saunders lauded the groundbreaking achievement as a significant and inspiring milestone for the people of Anguilla.

“What a significant and inspiring day for the people of Anguilla! Congratulations to the Honorable Cora Richardson Hodge on her election as the first female Premier and the first-ever Hispanic representative. This achievement marks a historic moment not just for her, but for all Anguillians, symbolizing progress and the breaking of barriers,” Saunders wrote.

Highlighting Richardson-Hodge’s dedication to service and her vision for improving the quality of life for all Anguillians, Saunders praised the AUF’s consistent efforts over the past five years.

“Cora’s unwavering commitment to service and her vision for enhancing living standards for everyone are truly commendable. Her leadership reminds us that true success is rooted in dedication, not just accolades. The hard work and community engagement of the Anguilla United Front over the past five years exemplify what it means to listen, understand, and build trust,” she added.

Saunders also congratulated Jeison Bryan, who made history as the first-ever elected Hispanic representative in Anguilla, and Cardigan Connor, affectionately known as ‘Cardy’, whom she met two years ago and had confidently predicted his party’s reelection.

“To all aspiring leaders, let this victory serve as a powerful lesson: success is born from relentless effort, unity, and authenticity. Cora’s journey illustrates that when a team supports and believes in their leader, incredible things can happen.”

As the world prepares to celebrate International Women’s Day, Saunders emphasized that Richardson-Hodge’s triumph serves as an inspiration for women in leadership globally.

“Congratulations once again to Premier Elect Cora Richardson Hodge, the AUF, and the people of Anguilla! Today is indeed a day to rejoice and be glad.”
