Basseterre, St.Kitts : In an environment of the difficulties in fighting crime in the federation, the Opposition St.Kitts-Nevis Labour Party led by former Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas is not making the fight any easier . In a shocking display during a Public Meeting the former Prime Minister Douglas openly incited his supporters and directed what can only be described as open threats towards Permanent Secretaries and Senior Civil Servants in the Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris led Government .
In what seemed to be an effort to drum up support for an upcoming protest march the former PM declared that every Permanent Secretary should be “Marked”. He bellowed “Don’t be Afraid to March !”. “Mark everyone of them Permanent Secretaries !” “Mark Them !!!”
It is unclear whether the inciteful statements and what can be described as threats will be investigated by police.
Dr Douglas is no stranger to outrageous and inciteful pronouncements . In the lead up to the 2010 Elections he famously declared “I Incite Already and I could Incite Again !”. In 2015 he declared that he would be seeking new territory in Sandy Point and “Not One Man Standing !! All Man Dead or Wounded !!”
Statements like this does nothing for the country’s continued fight with crime and violence.
