From Basketball Court to Pulpit: St. Kitts and Nevis Basketball Star Naren Maynard Set to be Ordained as Deacon in Anglican Church
Naren Maynard, prominent member of the St. Kitts and Nevis National Basketball Team, is set to embark on a new chapter as he prepares for ordination as a deacon in the Anglican Church. The ordination ceremony, to be conducted by Bishop Ernest Fleming, is scheduled for April 25th at the Pro Cathedral of the Parish of St. George with St. Barnabas.Maynard, currently serving as Director at the Government Child Protection and Probation Services, has been an integral part of both his community and national basketball teams. Alongside his brother Nashorn, he has played a pivotal role in leading the Horsfords St. Pauls Tuff Knotts and the St. Kitts National Team to numerous local and regional championships.Recognized as one of the premier basketball players in the federation, Maynard’s ordination marks a significant milestone in his spiritual journey. The ceremony, coinciding with the Feast of St. Mark the Evangelist and Martyr, will be held at 6pm at the Pro-Cathedral of St. George in Basseterre. It promises to be a momentous occasion as Maynard embraces his new role within the Anglican Church.
