Staff members of Water and Sewerage Department have gotten a substantial amount of work completed, according to Premier Hon. Dr. D. Orlando Smith.

“…Getting our desalination plants up and running, producing water, and connecting homes in various communities to the public water supply,” he said yesterday, September 28.

He added, “I again would like to commend our essential services staff, along with members of the UK Military, for helping to make life a bit more comfortable for residents in those areas.”

Premier Smith said that they know it is not an easy process as they start the rebuild, but daily he is hopeful as they continue to make progress.

The department also stated that yesterday, it’s crew along with officers of the BVI Fire and Rescue Services worked together to resolve a problem in the Fish Bay area.

Elton Beazer of the WSD explained that they were repairing broken lines, but the rapid flow of water from the ghut was hindering that process, so they sought the assistance of fire officers to pump the water out.

“One of our top priorities is to restore as much water as possible to all residents in all major Islands. The Water and Sewerage personnel are working diligently to restore water supply to all major Islands,” Director of the WSD, Mrs. Perlin Scatliffe-Lennard stated.

Mrs. Scatliffe-Lennard advised persons to conserve water as much as possible and to use the commodity mainly for the purpose of hygienic use.

“We want to remind the public to be mindful and not waste the water,” she added.

The community is hereby notified that the water distribution schedule is 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
