Police have recovered a body of a male below a ghut in Treadfalls in the Third District on Monday, September 25. However, police cannot confirm at this time whether the death was related to Hurricane Irma.
“Police can confirm that the body of an unidentified male was recovered from a ghut below Treadfalls on Monday, September 25. We can not confirm the cause or time of death,” Police Spokeswoman, Diane Drayton said.
Police indicated that, the Coroner’s Office has been notified and a postmortem is being arranged.
“At this stage the death is not being treated as suspicious.”
A police officer had made the news public via a forum on social media, “the police found another corpse yesterday. As the cleaning up continues it is feared that more victims of the storm might be found.”
The RVIPF is appealing for information on any missing male who may have lived, worked or had any reason to be in that area to contact the force at emergency numbers: Digicel – 344 1818, 1822, 1977; FLOW 545-4866; CCT 468-9001, 468-9000.
