American Airlines is adding another option for North Texas travelers looking to get away to the Caribbean this summer, with the carrier announcing a new route to the island of St. Kitts on Thursday.

The seasonal route from DFW International Airport will operate once-per-week on Saturdays from May 25 to Aug. 17. Flights aboard the 128-seat Airbus A319 jet will depart from DFW Airport at 9:55 a.m. and arrive at 3:55 p.m. Flights from St. Kitts back to DFW will leave at 4:45 p.m. and arrive at 8:45 p.m.

“The addition of a non-stop flight from Dallas  by American Airlines is yet another historic first for our Federation of St.Kitts-Nevis. This is yet another step on our way to becoming the best destination in the Caribbean and the world.,” said  Hon. Lindsay Grant, Minister of Tourism

“We are extremely pleased to welcome this additional service, which demonstrates American’s confidence in the Federation as a desirable destination for travelers,” stated Raquel Browne , CEO of the Tourism Authority

St. Kitts and its neighboring island of Nevis together make up the country, which sits on the eastern end of the Caribbean, about 230 miles from Puerto Rico.

American currently operates 14 flights per week to St. Kitts from its hubs in Miami, Charlotte and New York.
