The Traditional Annual Labour Day March took place today in St.Kitts with hundreds taking to the streets mainly in solidarity with the St.Kitts-Nevis Labour Party which has become the focus of the event over the years. The annual march was conceptualized throughout the world and the Caribbean as an event for the workers of all political persuasion in the country and the world. In St.Kitts however the event has become mainly a political event by the SKN Labour Party.
Hundreds turned out for the annual march which was led by the leadership of the SKN Labour Party including former Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas along with his parliamentary colleagues Hon Patrice Nisbett, Hon. Konris Maynard and Hon. Marcella Liburd.

The march which over the years has drawn upwards of 4000, was able to draw just about 1000 persons including hundreds who were drawn by the presence of the NuVybes Band who have now become a staple of the annual procession. The Labour Leaders were still enthusiastic despite the size of the march which according to all observers was smaller than what has become the norm over the last 20 years. The smaller march was not surprising considering the political environment

. However the Labour party leadership certainly does not have anything to be ashamed of and are very opitimistic and generally pleased with the support.
The march generated many discussion regarding the future of the Labour Party and the Labour Union.
