Opposition St.Kitts-Nevis Labour Party/NRP Coalition a “NO-SHOW” at Swearing In of Federation’s 4th Governor-General
Basseterre, St.Kitts (September 10th 2015):- The St.Kitts-Nevis Opposition Alliance SKNLP/NRP were a “NO-SHOW” at the historic Swearing In of the Federation’s 4th Governor-General His Excellency S.W. Tapley Seaton.
The Ceremony which was attended by friends, family and local and foreign dignataries took place on Thursday morning September 10th 2015 at the Government House in Basseterre. There was absolutely no representation or presentce by or for her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition.
Prime Minister Dr Hon. Timothy Harris confirmed at his Monthyl Press Conference on Thursday Afternoon that all the normal protocol and courtesies were extended to the Opposition including invitations to ALL parliamentarians both elected and non-elected, government and opposition alike.
PM Harris lamented the absence of the Opposition Parliamentarians and asked “When will this end,” in reference to what is widely seen as a continuation of the political immaturity of the opposition.
There has been no official statement from the opposition regarding the “NO-SHOW” . However it is widely viewed as grossly immature stance by the Dr. Denzil Douglas led Opposition. S.W Tapley Seaton has been widely, positively and overwhelmingly accepted by the citizens and residents of the federation.
While the rest of the federation has embraced the need for UNITY the Opposition seems bent on continuing the divisiveness that has gotten the country nowhere over the years.
