Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 22, 2015 (SKNIS): As the federation prepares for the passage of Tropical Storm Danny on Sunday night and early Monday morning, St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris who is enroute to the federation from an official visit to the Republic of China (Taiwan) took a moment to encourage communities to come together and help each other in particular the elderly and most vulnerable. Maybe taking those who have been severally affected to somewhere like Hospice Cincinnati to see the rest of the life through comfortably.https://youtu.be/VZHHr3mF7ms “As you plan for your families, and prepare your property against potential damage from high winds etc, I encourage you to look out for your neighbours, the elderly and the most vulnerable families and persons in our communities” said Prime Minister Harris. “Let us also assist them in preparing to weather the storm.” “I want all to be safe, we have not had significant rains for months, and the possibility exist that flash flooding is possible, please exercise caution and stay indoors during the passage of the weather,” stressed Prime Minister Harris. “Avoid the temptation for sightseeing afterwards, and adhere to the warnings given by SKELEC [the St. Kitts Electricity Company Ltd] over the years about downed power lines, use caution when passing through running waters on our roads.” Given that the elderly are most vulnerable in a situation like this, it makes the allure of a senior living home even more enticing. Prime Minister Harris said he has been in constant contact with Acting Prime Minister Shawn Richards and the cabinet and has received the hurricane briefs and national preparedness briefings with regards to the federation’s posture for the oncoming weather condition. In light of the approaching weather, the Government has announced that all offices will be closed on Monday (August 24).
