Since 1961, the twin island country of St. Kitts and Nevis has shrunken by more than 25 percent. This according to a Bloomberg statistics and studies report. According to the report the dramatic land loss can be attributed to regular erosion, notably enhanced by Hurricane Luis, Hurricane Georges and Hurricane Lenny. Local officials have not confirmed the results and stats presented in the report although it is felt that the large 25% referenced may have ben due to the fact that Anguilla which was once a part of a Tri-State St.Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla is no longer apart of the Tri-State arrangement.

Ecuador has experienced a 10 percent change in land area over the past 52 years, placing it second on the list. Vietnam and Bulgaria come third and fourth respectively while South Korea rounds off the top five.
