Newly elected President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, His Excellency David Granger held bilateral talks with the Honourable Dr. Timothy Harris, Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis on Saturday July 4th .
Both Grainger and Harris were recently elected leaders of their respective countries very similarly. They both led a successful coalitions that brough together persons and political parties from across the political divide to come together in an alliance of national UNITY which in each case broke the twenty plus year reign of a regime.
President Grainger was accompanied at the talks by a delegation which included Keith George, Guyana’s Ambassador to Suriname, Director General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Audrey Waddell, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Carl Greenidge and Consul General Michael Brotherson.
Prime Minister Dr. Harris led a smaller delegation which comprised the Ambassador to Caricom His Excellency Sydney Osbourne and Foreign Affairs Officer and Caricom Youth Ambassador Sonia Boddie.

Matters regarding the Venezuela maritime dispute were discussed as well as the pursuance of a heightened and enhanced relationship between the two countries.
In addressing the Guyana-Venezuela dispute at the CARICOM summit Prime Minister Harris, said about this issue it is an opportunity to show “regional unity and solidarity” of the countries of Caricom.
Guyanese make up the largest non-national group in the federation of St.Kitts-Nevis with well over 4,000 of the near 50,000 residents .

Dr Harris expressed the hope that the border dispute between Guyana and Venezuela would resolve through diplomacy.
