57 NEW CASES AND 2 MORE DEATHS IN LAST 2 DAYS IN ST.LUCIA. TOTAL DEATHS NOW AT 209 AND ACTIVE CASES AT 1403 WITH 11,000 PLUS CASES TOTAL

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs today Sunday, October 3, 2021, confirms a total of fifty-seven (57) new cases of COVID-19. These cases were processed on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 134 samples which were collected between October 1 and October 2, 2021.

This number of positive cases makes up 42.5% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in- country to date to 11, 693.

The Ministry of Health also reports one (1) new COVID-19 death and one (1) new COVID-19 related death. Both these deaths occurred during the period September 22, 2021 to September 29, 2021. To date, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in country is 161 and the total number of COVID-19 related deaths is 48.

COVID-19 death #161 is a 53 year old female from the Vieux Fort district. COVID-19 related death #48 is a 84 year old male from the Laborie district. The Ministry of Health extends condolences to the bereaved families, friends and loved ones of all of these individuals.-

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 11 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in-country to 1,406. Three (3) individuals are in critical state while ten (10) others are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.

To date, a total of 36,103 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 29,769 have received the second dose. A total of 10,629 individuals have received the first dose and 3,822 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Vaccinations will resume Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Vieux Fort RC Parish Hall, La Ressource Constituency Council and the Gros- Islet Human Resource Center. The vaccine will also be given at People’s Discount Drugstore on Victoria Street in Castries by appointment only. Vaccinations are scheduled for distribution at all sites from 9 am to 4 pm.

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs will continue providing daily updates to the public as new information becomes available.
