Trinidad Express:– Less than two months after he was released from prison having completed a 13-year sentence for rape and robbery, a 47-year-old man from Chase Village has been arrested.
He is being linked to at least three sexual assaults.
The suspect was held last Thursday while boarding a maxi-taxi along the Priority Bus Route in the vicinity of Cane Farm Junction, Trincity.
He told her that if she raised an alarm, he would shoot her.
He then stole her money.
As the maxi-came to as top at Cane Farm Junction, the woman screamed and jumped out of the maxi taxi.
A team of officers from the Northern Division who were on patrol at the time, and arrested the 47-year-old.
Police found the stolen money and a knife.
When a criminal background trace was done, the officers learnt that officers of the Central Division were searching for a man of the same build and description as the Chase Village man, in relation to three allegations of rape which took place in the district over the past few weeks.
The suspect is expected to be placed on identification parades for these incidents.
The officers involved in this exercise have been praised by Assistant Commissioner of Police McDonald Jacob for their swift response.
