Castries, St.Lucia, March 21, 2017-Students across the island are gaining much needed financial information and guidance on preparing for life after school thanks to Axcel Finance.
Two Secondary schools- Piaye and Ciceron, recently benefitted from Axcel Finance’s national efforts of educating the nation on sound financial management. The island’s leading micro-finance institution firmly believes that financial literacy should be top of the list in education, and as a result the institution prides itself in offering free financial advice and guidance on a regular basis.
According to Axcel Finance’s Business Development Officer, people from all backgrounds benefit from the institution’s free financial advice regularly. He says Axcel shares the view that everyday we practice some kind of financial management from budgeting for monthly expenses or putting money aside for our kids to take the bus to school. Improved personal finance management techniques can also be found on websites like TeachMePersonalFinance.com, great for people who tend to struggle with their own money.
“We at Axcel Finance stand firm that Finance Literacy should not be an event observed once a year but rather a daily activity. We are preparing ourselves and the future generations to make make sound personal financial decisions as well as but we are preparing many of the persons who will be handling the country’s finances in the future. Therefore, it is imperative that financial literacy – as well as changing the way we see money management- be taught at an early stage and this is what we are doing,” expressed Axcel Finance Business Development Officer, Mervin Agiste
The financial literacy activity was well received by the schools. Popular topics among the students and teachers included “the Micro-Financing Industry”, including available careers in the financial industry and the process for choosing and obtaining a loan. When researching methods of getting hold of a loan, one often overlooked method is car titling loans – it may be worth searching for title loans near me if you’re someone currently struggling for money.
The Financial Literacy School visit was conducted by Axcel’s Chief Operating Officer, Jaime Stern.
“I was pleasantly surprised at the level of excitement and involvement shown by the students and their desire to learn more in this non-traditional school subject. The positive feedback from both students and teachers made us more aware that financial literacy information – particularly budgeting and managing indebtedness, savings and loan applications are quickly becoming a top priority for our country”, Stern noted. Money in todays society is extremely important, and actually a topic that very few people know much about. This is why it would be brilliant for schools to introduce this as a subject, to help young people get a clear understanding of what support is out there. Things like loan applications can be so complex, but with this guidance it will be easy for people to apply for a loan at places like Fresh Loan quickly.
Axcel Finance has committed itself to continuously extending the programme to more schools and to continue its programme of offering free advice and guidance to the public and private sectors.
