Former Guyana Attorney General Anil Nandlall has been arrested and charged with larceny for the alleged theft of  law books from the Ministry of Legal Affairs, CMC has reported.

The cost of the books has been estimated at over GUY$2 million.

According to CMC, two days before his arrest Nandlall had been questioned by members of the Special Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) and refused to allow  them access to one of his properties to retrieve the law books.

He claimed that he did not have keys to the property.

The former Attorney General is accused of stealing the 14 Commonwealth law reports.
