The St.Kitts-Nevis National Assembly has approved the appointment of  Ms Sonia Boddie  as the new deputy clerk to the National Assembly.

The Former Caricom Youth Ambassador was  named during a historic and special sitting of the Parliament which also saw the election of the new Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly Hon. Akila Byron-Nisbett.

The Foreign Affairs Officer Ms Boddie served as Caricom Youth Ambassador between 2013 and 2015.

Ms Boddie  is a well-known motivational speaker, youth leader, youth advocate and youth philanthropist. She is an active member of the UNESCO Youth for Human Rights Committee in her country and has conducted workshops training national educators in the area of Human Rights Awareness. She is also a columnist, and is very well respected for her no-nonsense commentaries tackling youth and social issues. She has used various media to encourage young persons to use the internet responsibly and positively and to avoid a life of crime and violence. In June 2015, Ms. Boddie participated in the UNESCO sponsored Youth and the Internet: Fighting Radicalization and Extremism Conference that was held in Paris. In 2014 she  Launched the Sonia Boddie Promising Youth Leader Scholarship. The aim of the scholarship is to assist students demonstrating academic promise, who are transitioning to High School, but who are in need of that extra financial push to commence Secondary School.

Ms Boddie was a Chevening Scholar (2011) at the University of Birmingham, where she completed a Master’s of Public Administration and also holds a BSc in International Relations.
