James (Jimmy) De Zen son of the St.Kitts Marriott Resort’s Vic De Zen has died after apparently suffering a heart attack in a Las Vegas hotel last week.
The 46-year-old died last Thursday while on a vacation with his only sibling, Sergio, and his father.
The trio, accompanied by several friends, were in Nevada on their annual trip to the World Series of Poker, which runs until Wednesday 15th July .
The body remains in the United States while an autopsy is carried out, according to a Zzen Group of Companies employee, who did not want to be named.
When asked how Vic was taking the news, the employee said he was “distraught”, adding it’s very hard for the family to grieve his passing while the body remains outside of the country.
More will become apparent about what exactly happened after the body is returned to Canada, the employee said.
Vic, an Italian immigrant, turned a small Canadian plastics company into a worldwide empire in the 1990s known as Royal Group Technologies Ltd.
De Zen and the Royal Group owns the St.Kitts Marriott Resort and Royal St.Kitts Casino.
Jimmy worked for his father at the Royal Group from a young age and as an executive later on, but eventually left.
