Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 27, 2019 (SKNIS): The sterling service by the Honourable Shawn Richards, Deputy Prime Minister and Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher five (5), contributes significantly to the Team Unity Administration’s good governance and transparency agenda.

This was according to Prime Minister, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, who was at the time speaking at the (March 26) Community Consultation held at the Sandy Point Community Centre. He commended Deputy Prime Minister Richards for his contribution and service to the people and to St. Kitts and Nevis.

“I want to commend the Deputy Prime Minister… for the high quality representation that he has brought to the people of St. Christopher five (5) and to thank all of you who have held him up, who have given him support, and who have provided constructive criticism, because those things are important to enhancing the quality of representation on behalf of the people,” said Prime Minister Harris.

Dr. Harris noted that the deputy prime minister has an invaluable role to play in government.

He also recognized the Honourable Eugene Hamilton, noting that both he and Deputy Prime Minister Richards saw the need to “work together to create a better St. Kitts and Nevis”.

“They took the courageous step that the country at the level of the ordinary man on the street had long determined that the good governance of St. Kitts and Nevis required a new approach to governance in the country and the way in which government was doing its work,” he said. “Four years after, it is a wonderful feeling to see what we have succeeded in doing on behalf of the people.”

In addition to being the deputy prime minister, Minister Richards also holds the portfolios of the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture within the Federal Government.
