Statement By Prime Minister Dr. Hon. Timothy Harris On The Passing Of Elvis Newton
OFFICE OF THE PRIME MINISTER SAINT CHRISTOPHER AND NEVIS
Office of the Press Secretary
For Immediate Release August 18, 2015
——————————————–
It is with profound sadness that I learned of the passing (this morning) of Mr. Elvis Newton, Head of the Public Service in the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Mr. Newton had been ailing for a while and recently travelled overseas for additional medical care.
On behalf of the government and people of this country I offer condolences to his wife Ermel, his daughter Ngala, his son Khafre and the rest of his family, co-workers in the public service and his many friends.
Elvis dedicated his life to serving people. In the relatively short time that we were blessed to have him with us, he touched many lives as a community organiser, a teacher, mentor and at the time of his death, this nation’s top public servant.
He was a dedicated husband, father and diligent, competent, and professional in everything he undertook. In fact he was the consummate public servant and he will be sorely missed.
I ask the nation to join me in prayers for his family during this very difficult time.
